Ronald A. Orth, RN, NHA

Chief Clinical Officer, AIS Inc. - Certification Advisory Board Chair

Mr. Orth is the Chief Clinical Officer for AIS Inc. Ron is a registered nurse with over 25 years experience in the healthcare field with 15 of those years in the long term care industry. Prior to joining AIS, Ron held the position of President of Clinical Reimbursement Solutions as well as Corporate Director of Clinical Reimbursement for Extendicare.


Ron is viewed throughout the long-term care industry as a thought leader and his presentations on Medicare regulations, PPS, MDS and other topics of interest have been featured throughout the United States and Canada. In addition, Ron has also completed all requirements with the American Health Information Management Association to qualify as an Approved ICD-10-CM Trainer and Ambassador. In 2007 Ron was selected as Cambridge Who’s Who Executive of the Year in Healthcare Consulting.


Ron earned his nursing degree in 1985, and a Baccalaureate Degree in Health Care Administration in 1996 from Concordia University of Wisconsin.


Monica W. Pappas, PT

Vice President of Care Management, SavaSeniorCare Consulting LLC

Ms. Pappas serves as the VP of Care Management for SavaSeniorCare LLC . She has 30 years of experience in healthcare, 17 years in long term care and 13 years educating and analyzing the MDS/reimbursement systems and case management processes at a corporate level.  Most recently, she served as the Vice President of Clinical Reimbursement and Case Management for Covenant Dove.  Prior to that she lead Encore Healthcare’s Reimbursement Department as project Director, spent 10 years at Beverly Healthcare both as a Clinical Reimbursement Specialist overseeing 89 facilities and as a Compliance Auditor.  Ms. Pappas is a trained Physical Therapist and a graduate of  the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland. 


Anne M. Pierce, RN, LNC

President, Four Peaks Health Solutions

Anne Pierce is founder and President of Four Peaks Health Solutions a consulting firm providing clinical and legal consulting services across the long term care continuum. Anne has over 30 years of professional experience in healthcare management, regulatory compliance, business operations and private and corporate consulting. She is recognized for her extensive knowledge of health care standards and regulations. Anne is a Legal Nurse Consultant, and works with plaintiff and defense attorneys in negligence and medical malpractice cases involving elder care.


Prior to starting Four Peaks Health Solutions, Anne served as the Vice President of Operations for NeighborCare New England, a national pharmaceutical company servicing long term care facilities. 

Anne is a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Mass., and earned her nursing degree from Vermont College.


Deb Sanderfield-Hoven, RRT

Vice President of Network Innovations, EmpRes Healthcare

Deb Sanderfield-Hoven joined EmpRes Healthcare in May 2014, as the Vice President of Network Innovations. Mrs. Sanderfield-Hoven has more than 20 years’ experience in healthcare. She began her career at University Hospital in Denver as a Respiratory Therapist and then moved into LTC in rehabilitation. Her career took her into clinical compliance, sales/marketing, managed care contracting, center operations, and clinical reimbursement. She spent ten years leading the Clinical Reimbursement department for SunBridge Healthcare prior to joining EmpRes Healthcare. She has worked at Life Care Centers of America and Kindred Healthcare – also providers in long term care.


Landa Strickland, MSN, RN, LNHA

Director of Clinical Reimbursement, Life Care Centers

Landa Strickland currently holds the position of Director of Clinical Reimbursement at Life Care Centers. Landa has been in nursing for 35 years and began her career as a Nurse Aide and filled facility level positions from LPN, MDS Coordinator, Director of Nurses, and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. At the Corporate level she has held Vice President and Director Clinical Reimbursement positions for various national chains. Quality care is a predominant focus for Landa and she believes that interdisciplinary team members must have the educational tools based on source documents to develop the skill set necessary to complete accurate assessments, understand Medicare requirements, and the Quality Reporting process.
