Two Curriculum Views - What’s the difference?

There are two different views for curriculum analysis in Dashboard and one will be more useful to your situation.  Which one you use will depend on how your curriculums are set up in AIS Central.

Curriculum Completion: Specified Due Date

Use this view if your organization requires that all learners complete their required evaluations by a calendar date that you have specified.  For example, if all learners must complete their evaluations by March 31st every year, then you should use the view called “Curriculum Completion: Specified Due Date”.

Curriculum Completion: Evaluation Anniversary Due Date

Use this view if your organization requires that all learners complete their required evaluations on a date calculated based on a fixed number of days since they successfully completed last year’s evaluation.  For example, if all learners must complete their evaluations one year after they finished last year’s evaluation, then you should use the view called “Curriculum Completion: Evaluation Anniversary Due Date”.

Both curriculum views will properly accommodate the due dates that may be different for new users, so choose the view that matches your primary due date method.  The Curriculum views work only if your organization has set up curriculums for your learners in AIS Central.

Curriculum Completion: Specified Due Date

The ‘Curriculum Completion: Specified Due Date’ view shows the percentage of required evaluations completed per location or region.  This view is useful if you have a set a specific calendar due date for learners to complete their evaluations because it includes all required evaluations.  If an evaluation is not due for many months and a learner has not completed it, it will appear here as incomplete.  Thus, knowing the due date for evaluations will help you to understand the completion percentages you are seeing.  For example, a low completion rate for an evaluation with is not due for many months would be a reasonable scenario.  If your evaluation due dates are based on when last year’s evaluations were completed (i.e. each user may have a different due date), you should use the ‘Curriculum Completion: Evaluation Anniversary Due Date’ view, below.

This view shows a simple calculation of how many required evaluations were completed divided by the total number of required evaluations.  This view does not show you whether evaluations are overdue.

For example, if there are 20 learners required to complete 5 evaluations each, there are 100 required evaluations for that location.  If 25 of those evaluations have been completed, the chart will show a completion rate of 25%.

Use this view to keep tabs on how your locations are doing in meeting their curriculum objectives.  If you have different due dates for different disciplines or for different evaluations, you will see more useful information if change your filter options to show that specific discipline or evaluation.

Data in this view is updated weekly.  Only learners who were registered in AIS Central on that date are included in the results.  Use the "As of" date filter to go back in time to previous weeks.

If more than one Region is selected in the filter criteria, the resulting chart will summarize results at the region level.
If only one Region is selected, then results will be shown by individual location.

Sample Screen: Filter controls are shown in dark grey at the top.  Click them to see all the filtering options.  If you make changes, click the ‘Draw Chart’ button to refresh the results.

If multiple evaluations are included in the filter, each bar on the chart will show the total of all learners and evaluations required.  Click on the bars of the chart, to learn about the actual number of evaluations required per location.

If you would like to see detailed data in the chart in table format, you can click the "Download CSV" link (CSV = Comma Separated Values).  This will download the chart data to a file on your computer that you can then open in Microsoft Excel.  The columns you will see in the CSV data are:

Date:

This date represents the ‘As Of’ date on the report and will be the same for all rows.

Location:

A specific facility.  Even if the chart is rolled up by region, the CSV data will always show data for each facility.

Evaluation Name:

The evaluation name for the current row’s data.

Total Count:

Total number of evaluations required to be completed for users at the location.

Completed Count:

Total number of evaluations that have been successfully passed at the location.

Percentage:

The percentage of evaluations completed calculated from the previous two numbers.

Curriculum Completion: Evaluation Anniversary Due Date

The ‘Curriculum Completion: Evaluation Anniversary Due Date’ view shows the percentage of users who have either completed their required evaluations on time, or still have time remaining to complete those evaluations before their due date.  This view is more useful if your evaluations are due based on when each user completed last year’s evaluation.  A score of less than 100% indicates that some users have not successfully passed an evaluation before its due date.  If your evaluation due dates are based on a specific calendar due date for everyone, you should use the ‘Curriculum Completion: Specified Due Date’ view because in that configuration, if a due date has not passed, this view would show 100% compliance.
